2nd edition of the KansasBio
eNews
Welcome
to the 2nd edition of the KansasBio eNews! It's
been an extremely productive 90 days since I joined
KansasBio. I've have enjoyed meeting with organizations
and individuals across the entire state during
this time. I am meeting a tremendous number of
great people who are interested in the success
of biosciences in our state. Thank you for your
warm welcome and for sharing information about
your work.
We are pleased to announce our primary sponsors
for the Kansas Pavilion at the international BIO
convention in Chicago, April 9-12, 2006: The Kansas
Bioscience Authority, as our platinum sponsor,
joining Hill’s Pet Nutrition, KTEC and the
Kansas Department of Commerce, as our gold sponsors.
KansasBio
has been preparing for this event for over and
year-and we know you will be thrilled with the
results. You can read more in this issue and will
receive regular updates in our BIO 2006 eSupplement,
BIOBuzz. There still remain opportunities for
stakeholders to get involved with the Kansas Pavilion,
ranging from sponsorship, to advertising in our
publication, to joining us in Chicago as part
of the Kansas delegation. It will be an
incredible presence for Kansas!

We also invite
you to join KansasBio for two other exciting events
in the coming months. We will be sponsoring scholarships
at the Graduate Students Research Summit at the Capitol
in Topeka on March 8, 2006. Additionally, KansasBio
will be traveling to Washington, DC, for a legislative
Fly-in on March 14 & 15th, 2006. Additional information
on the Fly-in is also featured in this issue.
Many of you recently received
a copy of the Kansas Bioscience and Innovation Roadmap
along with a letter from the Kansas Bioscience Authority
Chairman, Clay Blair. If you didn’t receive a
copy, or if you’d like another one, you’ll
find everything on our website at www.kansasbio.org/info/information.htm.
KansasBio values the communication process that was
sparked during the roadmap process and will continue
to facilitate this communication among those interested
in the biosciences. Thank you to KTEC for starting this
valuable information-gathering process.
Best regards,

Angela Kreps
