KansasBio
participated at the final 2005 Prosperity Summit,
hosted in Wichita on December 8, 2005. The summit
brought together Kansas business leaders, policymakers,
legislators and scholars to evaluate economic
initiatives developed by the 2003 Summit and established
in the ensuing Kansas Economic Growth Act of 2004.
Additionally, the 2005 Prosperity Summit provided
participants an opportunity to discuss how existing
state policies and programs can be improved to
further invigorate the Kansas economy. |

“The Biosciences industry has
such tremendous opportunities to enhance the economic
future of Kansas,” said Angela Kreps, President
of KansasBio. “In the last 90 days as I’ve
traveled from Colby and Goodland to Wichita and Pittsburg
it is evident: great work is being done in our state,
which will yield even stronger profitability in this
growing sector and our job as KansasBio is to facilitate
that growth.”
The Prosperity Summit process
began in September with seven Regional Focus Groups,
which recognized the variety of economic interests that
exists in a state as large and economically diverse
as Kansas. After compiling the suggestions and concerns
raised at the Focus Groups, selected leaders convened
for the final State Summit.
